I'll Follow the Sun......

Well, it looks like we are going to be doing a little traveling. Our neighbors and us will be heading south into California. We are going to chase the sun for a few weeks. It makes the winters more bearable here. Having lived in California most of my life I must say I really miss the sun in the winters here. So we are going to leave in a week or so and while we are down there we'll see family and maybe a few friends. I am looking forward to it.
I also got a call this morning while I was in a yoga class. I ignored it so nobody would know the idiot who left their phone on was me. : ) When the class was over I retrieved my voice mail and it was my grandson. I called him back and he told me his girlfriend is pregnant. They are very young, he is 18 and she is 16. They are very excited so I didn't want to be a mood killer so I was as positive as I could be for them. He does have a job at a market but no driver's license or car. Oh boy. Guess I am going to be a great grandmother now.
Well, the sun is just peaking out of the fog so I am going to see what I can do while it's shining.

Sounds like a great trip, especially if it gets you into the sun. I worry so much about my granddaughter. She's only 11 and so boy crazy, and very, very developed. I'll pray for your grandson and his girlfriend. They are soooo young.
Hugs, Joyce

You are very lucky to be able to follow the sun. I have a camper but no truck to pull it or funds for traveling for that matter. Enjoy the sun and try to soak up some rays for me. 'On Ya'-ma

I really want to see Napa Valley in California someday.
Hope you have a wonderful trip.
And congrats on the new little grandbaby! Sometimes the best things come when not planned.
It is not the end of the world even though they are young.
I am sure that baby will be a blessing.
Godspeed and take some pics of that sunshine for us..
It is cold here tonight. 12 degrees!

Chasing the sun! Sounds like the best way to wrap up January! God bless your grandson, his girlfriend and their child. You should feel good that he chose to call you and share his news. You response was the reason why....you were respectful of their feelings and supportive of them. OMG...I would have rather lit my hair on fire than tell my grandmother if I had been in that situation and my children would probably feel the same way about telling theirs (come to think of it....so would I if I had to tell my father or Carmen's mom that my children was having a child out of wedlock and so young!!!)
So, while you are chasing the sun....you can contemplate your great grandmotherhood and write down some good advice for them that you KNOW they will need. Your wisdom and balanced compassion will be a blessing to them!
