Where we are today

I haven't made an entry in over a week. I couldn't get wifi access for some time so I just didn't check my email or my blog. Today we went to Hearst Castle. These are some of the pics I took inside and looking out at the sea from inside. I have been there 3 other times but it has so much to see it felt like the first time again. Well worth the money and time to take a tour. After that we drove along the coast for a few miles and saw elephant seals and their young lounging in the sand. They arrive in November and the males leave in March and head for Alaska and the females go to Canada. They were huge and you can get pretty close to them by way of a path just above them all. We had a little rain in the last week and the temperature has gotten cooler but the sun still shines between rain storms so that is good. We were kind of at a standstill for a few days because one of the husbands in our group got sick. So his wife stayed with him all day and the rest of us just kind of hung out around town. I didn't get any pictures of the castle from the outside other than up close ones. I tried to get a picture of it as we were driving up the hill in their bus but it was blurry.

I used to LOVE going to San Simeon and touring Hearst Castle when I was a kid! My dad took me twice (just me - leaving my sisters behind) and I loved the special time with my dad in such a special place. :-)

It is something else for sure. Before I found out where you were I thought the pictures were of a lodge someplace. I cannot imagine living in a place like that one. I'm glad you are having a good time. The view is beautiful. Seeing all the palm trees is a sight worth while.
