I need to get back on the band wagon..

I decided yesterday that since my lapband surgeon had moved away and I got a letter that a new surgeon was about to take his place with two other surgeons helping out until the new one settled in, that I need to make an appointment for an adjustment. I figured it would probably take one or even two months before I could get an appointment. I have gained four pounds and I know I am eating more and also eating things I wasn't eating when I had proper restriction. I still have heartburn during the day until I take my reflux pill and I keep a Tums at my bedside for times when I feel a flareup during the night. But I can't not finish my journey the way I am now, so I decided to make the call and perhaps the doctor I see can shed some light on my dilemma. Well, I was so surprised when I got an appointment for this week. In fact I am going in on Friday. Oh, that's tomorrow. I only hope I don't regret going in for the fill. If they can just add a tiny bit of saline, enough to give me a feeling of fullness again. I will keep you all posted as to how things progress.

Hi Kathy....
The good news is that you got an appt! My docs are soooo backed up...I made my appt in May for October!
I think the key to all of this is keeping up with letting the doctors know what we need in terms of a fill. And, of course--giving them enough history to help them help us make the decisions. I've come to the conclusion that the further we go on our journey, the more agressive we need to become in terms of letting it known exactly what we expect. In the early days of our bands, we probably were a little timid to do this--more "fat girl" behavior. We were a little ashamed to say that we are not losing weight. We were so worried that we would be "caught" overeating! Those days are over!!! We have a Lapband--we own it, we have control over it--hell, we even paid for it! Keep in mind that you got this band to help you lose this weight so let it do it's job making sure that the doctor helps you in keeping good restriction! Yeah, I know...I'm a know-it-all...huh?? Well...look at it this way--it took me almost 2 years to stand up and say this! Losing weight makes us so much more confident...LOL!!!
Onward!
