Solvang

Here are a couple of Solvang pictures. It's a Danish Village and very quaint. They had a street fair in the afternoon. We got some really fresh produce and they also had breads and cheeses for sale. The sky was getting a little cloudy on our way home and during the night the rain started. It rained about 3 hours and now it's just cloudy but no rain. Today we are just all doing our own thing and I am going to do some laundry. We girls went to Gottschalks department store and I got a couple of pairs of jeans. They are have great sales there. I'm about to go for lunch with hubby and his sister and then I will do the laundry. Whoopee huh??

The End of a Perfect Day

These sunset shots along Avila Beach are just a sample of the beautiful weather we are experiencing. They are forecasting rain for tomorrow. Yesterday we went to Cambria, one of my favorite cities in California. It is a quaint little town on the coast and has galleries, gift shops, and restaurants on the main street. It has grown a great deal since our last visit there. Many new homes are on the hillside also. It is so pretty there. Our friends had never been there before and the two ladies with us are both artists and went nuts over one of the galleries we went to. There were some absolutely beautiful paintings in there. Our plan for today is to go to Solvang. A danish town in the foothills of Santa Ynez. It is also wine country there. I think only one of the other couples has ever been there. It also has lots of galleries and gift shops and danish bakeries are one of there specialties. We are all feeling really guilty for leaving our dogs so much of the time. If the rain starts tomorrow we will be staying with them more and maybe hitting a movie or a shopping center. I also need to do some laundry and that would be a good thing to do in the rain.

A Day at the Horse Farm

Yesterday we all went to an Arabian Horse Ranch and were allowed to wander around and take pictures as much as we wanted. What a fun time. The horses were all separated according to there gender and their condition. These in this picture were young fillies all full of vim and vigor. One of the husbands would whistle and wave his arms and they would take off and run. We got some good pictures between the three of us girls. What fun we had.

San Luis Obispo Mission

Here is the mission in San Luis Obispo, California. We made it here on Friday and the weather is absolutely glorious. Sunny and in the high 70s. We are loving it, especially since we heard the weather at home is still foggy and in the 30s. Today we spent the day at hubbys sister's home watching the Super Bowl game. Lots of eats, and lots of laughter. I won a pool for the 2nd quarter of the game. We've been taking lots of pictures and tomorrow we are going to an Arabian Horse Ranch to take pictures there. We also are planning to go to Hearst's Castle and Cambria this week as well as south to Solvang, a danish village about 60 miles from here. I hope the weather continues to be so nice. We are all so giddy from the sunshine each day. Amazing how much it means to you when you don't have it each day. I never gave it much thought when I lived here. Well, I am ready to go to bed. It's been a busy week.
